RCoA response to CQC State of Care report

Responding to the Care Quality Commission's (CQC) State of Care report, Dr Liam Brennan, President of the Royal College of Anaesthetists (RCoA), said: "As the single largest group of hospital doctors, anaesthetists play a critical role in the care of two-thirds of all hospital patients, both inside and out of the operating theatre. We have seen at first-hand the effects of social care pressures and their impact on an already strained NHS.

World Anaesthesia Day 2017: Global Anaesthesia event at the RCoA

Her Royal Highness, The Princess Royal, addressed over 100 delegates at the Royal College of Anaesthetists on World Anaesthesia Day today, Monday 16 October. Here she launched the second version of the e-SAFE resource at a special global anaesthesia event.

Her Royal Highness spoke of the challenges that many countries face in administering anaesthesia, particularly as a shortage of qualified anaesthetists has, in some cases, led to non-physicians carrying out the procedure.
