Active substance approvals: October 2017

Regulatory Update: 10/2017

Issued:  October 2017

Updating your authorisation

HSE does not routinely notify product authorisation holders where a change or update of a current authorisation is required because of a change by the EC to an approval of an active substance.  Authorisation holders are advised to check the EUR-Lex EU law webpage and EU Pesticides database where new or changes to active substance approvals and review reports are published.

Active substance approvals

At the Standing Committee on Plants, Animals, Food and Feed (SCoPAFF) the following was agreed:

  • Iprodione - Non-renewal of approval
  • Mustard seeds powder, beer - Approval as basic substances
  • Potassium sorbate, Achillea millefolium  L., paprika - Non-approval as basic substances
  • 2,4-D - Revised review report (revised human health reference values)

In the light of further consideration of studies common to the evaluation of the active substances 2,4-D and 2,4-DB (of which 2,4-D is a major metabolite), the following revised reference values for 2,4-D have been agreed:

ADI:       0.02 mg/kg bw per day,

ARfD:     0.3 mg/kg bw,

AOEL:    0.02 mg/kg bw per day.
