Urgent message from HSE regarding divers' breathing gas.

HSE has been supporting the police response to reports of pupils feeling unwell following a scuba diving lesson at Manchester Grammar School on Monday 26 June 2017.  A 14-year-old boy remains in a stable condition, while 11 other boys have since been discharged from hospital. As part of the police response an initial assessment of the breathing gas used during the lesson has taken place.

Following this assessment, we would ask any person who has recently had a diving cylinder filled by Aqualogistics in Stockport not to breathe the gas.  If you feel you may be affected then please contact diving@hse.gov.uk for further advice on how to proceed.
